Potentilla nepalensis

Other cultivars/Species: Other species at the BBG include: P. fruticosa ‘Abbotswood’, which has white flowers, measures 2 ft. tall by 3 ft. wide and is located in the Waterwise Garden; ‘Cascade Cushion’ and ‘Mt. Townsend, which are located in the Alpine Rock Garden; and ‘Primrose Beauty’, located near the Garden entrance.

Cultural notes:
A good choice for borders because of its hardy nature, brightly colored blossoms, and low growth height .
Provides nice cut flowers.
Also lovely in rock gardens.
To keep the plant shapely, trim it back after flowering is finished.

Forms a clump and grows up to 1 ft. high by1 ½ ft. wide.

Leaves:  Semi-evergreen, dark green and hairy leaves are composed of 5 leaflets ranging from 1-2 ½ in. long.
Flowers: Branching clusters of ½ - 1 in. wide blossoms have 5 petals, are salmon pink colored and deepen in color towards the center.
Bloom Time:
Summer
Conditions:
  Grows well in coastal regions, in full sun, and in well drained soil.
Natural Range:
Himalayas

Zones (Sunset) 2b-9, 14-24
