Galanthus nivalus

One of the first bulbs to bloom in the new year.

Naturalize in a woodland or partially shaded rock garden, planting in clusters.

Avoid frequent division.  When necessary, divide immediately after the bloom period.

Other cultivars/species:
The cultivar ‘Flore Pleno’ has double blooms.  The species Galanthus elwesii is known as Giant Snowdrop because its stems grow to be 12 in. high and the flowers are 1 ½ in. long.  The inner segments of these flowers are very green.  G. elwesii is more suitable for milder climates.
