Rhododendron 'Ken Janeck'

Extra notes and interesting information: A ‘Yak Rhododendron’ hybrid (named for the Rh. degronianum subsp. yakushimanum parent).  This cultivar was selected by Kenneth Janeck of Tacoma and introduced in 1965.  Hybrid rhododendrons are easy and vigorous growers in the Pacific Northwest.

Other cultivars/species in the Garden: Many different rhododendron cultivars are located throughout the Bellevue Botanical Garden. The newly renovated Rhododendron Glen showcases many of them.  A few others noted in the May Plant guide, available at the visitor center, are ‘Nancy Evans’, ‘Pearl Bradford’, ‘Lems Cameo’, and x ‘Crete.
