VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Volunteer at the Bellevue Botanical Garden and join hundreds of individuals and groups that provide 10,000 hours each year supporting the Garden.  Volunteers participating in educational programs, special events, horticultural assistance, and fundraising are essential in enriching the experience for all visitors.   You can make a contribution by giving just one or hundreds of hours of your time enhancing this community jewel.

Lead adult and children tours of the Garden.  Docents are the principal interpreters of the Garden.  These volunteers guide groups of up to 50 persons through the gardens.  Docents strive to promote and interpret the Garden in a conversational and informative way; tours typically last 1-2 hours.  Docents commit annually to being paid members of the Society, regularly attending docent meetings, conducting tours, and acting as hosts in the Visitor Center on weekends April through October.

Help organize and participate in exciting events throughout the year, including Mother's Day Open House, Rare Affair Benefit Auction, Garden D'Lights and the Northwest Flower and Garden Show.

Put your creative talents to work for Garden d'Lights.  Make a “flower” using an existing design or create your own.  All of the flowers and critters made from lights are both designed and made by volunteers.  Attending a class in the Spring or Fall will make you an expert and qualify you as a volunteer for our work parties held throughout the year where we make more advanced flowers and create new designs.   Garden d'Lights volunteers can also teach lights classes, assist with supplies procurement, decorate the visitor center, and set up and take down lights in November and January.  We could also use a welder to make frames for our larger flowers and critters.

If you are interested in working with children, please visit the Living Lab page for more information and then call our office at the number below or fill out our web form.  Volunteers assist professional staff teachers and are trained "on the job.

Staff the gift shop by providing sales assistance and general merchandising.  Make new friends and meet people from all over the world.  No experience is necessary;  training is provided.

Provide horticultural assistance.  Volunteers work with Garden staff, interns and other volunteers to plant, prune, create and maintain paths, and detail the Garden.

Get involved with the Garden’s education programs. Help develop educational resources, implement the interpretive plan, organize evening lectures for adults or lend a hand with our new school education program for elementary school classes.  Volunteer Now
